There has been some important changes to the way your Payment Summary Information (some of you may know it as a ‘Group Certificate’) will be available to you at the end of this financial year. Please take a minute to read the below information and the attachment issued by the Australian Tax Office.

It is now mandatory for RSEA to report your earnings directly to the Australian Tax Office (ATO) after each payroll is run. This means that the ATO now has all of your information on file straight away. So what does this mean for you?

  • As the tax office has immediate access to all of your wage information, we are no longer required to issue you with a Payment Summary
  • Your payment summary information will now be available at the end of the financial year in your ATO online services account through myGov or through your tax agent
  • To create a myGov account you can visit my.gov.au. Unfortunately we cannot set this up for you as it contains your private information
  • It is important to wait until payroll finalises your income statement to make it ‘tax ready’ so you or your tax agent can lodge your tax return. Employers have until 31st July 2019 to have this information finalised.
  • Once the ATO has received all of your ‘Tax ready’ information, they will send a message to your myGov account to let you know you can lodge your return

To minimise queries, it is very important that this information is relayed to your team.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact payroll through the HR help desk and we will happily assist you.
